Objective

We were excited to work with Master Plan, a gripping investigative series with a timely and consequential message about the state of American democracy. We partnered with The Lever’s team to support the launch through targeted press outreach across traditional outlets and new media, with the goal of amplifying the show’s impact and visibility.

THE CHALLENGE

Despite its high-quality reporting and timely subject matter, Master Plan faced some hurdles ahead of its launch:

  • Although The Lever had a preexisting news podcast called Lever Time, Master Plan was launched in a brand-new podcast RSS feed, requiring a ground-up audience-building effort and podcast growth strategy.
  • The Lever needed specialized podcast launch strategies to optimize its existing subscriber base across social media, newsletters, webpages, and beyond.
  • Its release during the 2024 presidential election year made Master Plan’s content timely and relevant, but it also increased competition in an already crowded news/politics space, where it can be difficult to stand out.
